The climate lab. (https://www.akinsanola.com/) at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Illinois Chicago (https://eaes.uic.edu/people/faculty/) is seeking M.Sc/Ph.D. applicants interested in high-resolution dynamic downscaling using Weather Research Forecasting (WRF) model, regional climate change at convective resolving spatial scales, hydrological modeling, land-atmosphere interactions, and extreme weather/climate events. The graduate student will be fully funded by research assistantships and would have access to the computing facilities at Argonne National Laboratory.
Required qualifications:
* B.S. or M.S. degree in Meteorology/atmospheric sciences/atmospheric physics/mathematics
*Strong programming skills to handle large datasets on high-performance computing resources
* Knowledge about regional or global climate model output as well as climate-related observational datasets
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
