The Chemistry Department<https://www.esf.edu/chemistry/> at SUNY-ESF seeks to fill a tenure track position in the area of field studies of air quality. The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program in air quality/environmental chemistry. In addition, the applicant will be responsible for teaching 3 courses per year at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, including at least one graduate-level course focused on air environmental chemistry research methods. This Assistant Professor position is part of cluster hire in Urban Sustainability.
The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, with specializations in environmental chemistry, biochemistry, natural products chemistry, and polymer chemistry. The department currently has 15 faculty members and enrolls about 60 undergraduate students and 30 graduate students. Seven (7) of these faculty and 20 of these graduate students focus on environmental chemistry.
Major equipment includes a suite of Orbitrap and triple-quad GC- and LC-MS instruments. Other major equipment includes high resolution ICP-OES and ICP-OES, 600 and 800 MHz NMRs, and scanning and transmission electron microscopes.
