[ES_JOBS_NET] Two-year term, full‐time lecturer position at IUPUI

The Department of Earth Sciences at Indiana University-Purdue University
Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applications for a two-year term, full‐time,
non‐tenure‐track position as a lecturer in Earth Sciences. The expected
starting date is January 1, 2022. We seek a lecturer who is committed to
excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. An M.S. degree
in geology or environmental science is required and a Ph.D. is preferred.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in quality teaching in
undergraduate earth and/or environmental sciences. Candidates with
experience teaching courses such as physical or environmental geology as
well as introductory oceanography are especially welcome to apply. Interest
and ability to mentor and coordinate graduate teaching assistants are
essential. Experience with course development and online teaching are
desirable. A senior faculty member will serve as a mentor for the
lecturer. Lecturers
at IUPUI also have opportunities to participate in professional development
as well as engage in department committee service. Salary will be
commensurate with rank and experience, and compensation includes an
attractive benefits package. Applicants should submit a letter of
application, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy,
summaries of recent peer and/or student teaching evaluations (if
available), and the names and email addresses of three referees. Submit

About the department: We are a vibrant Earth Sciences department with 13
faculty, 3 of whom are full-time lecturers and senior lecturers (
https://science.iupui.edu/earthsciences). As a department, we are committed
to teaching students to be aware of how humans interact with the
environment, while also teaching responsible stewardship of Earth’s
resources. The department offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Geology, a B.S.
in Environmental Science, minors in Geology, Geochemistry and Environmental
Science, an M.S. in Geology, and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Applied
Earth Sciences. Our department also works closely with the Center for Earth
and Environmental Science to provide service-learning opportunities in our
courses and broaden our student’s exposure and connection to our community.
