Position 1: Research Project Manager
Position Summary:
Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI), of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., is recruiting a Research Project Manager to be responsible for the tracking of research initiatives and their outcomes including reports, publications, conferences, data integration, and education initiatives. This role will be an integral part of the research team in understanding and tracking all research initiatives, their objectives, timelines, budgets, publications, and scientific findings. A key function will be to develop internal and external technical documents and summaries of research findings and data integration for presentation in educational and research materials for distribution through the web page, partnership avenues, external articles and webinars, newsletter, and others.
Job Location:
This position is based at Chemical Insights Marietta, Georgia (Atlanta) office/laboratory  location.
Primary Responsibilities:

  *   Track all research initiatives as to objectives, timelines, budgets, participants, and data outcomes and keep current.
  *   Track all scientific publications, presentations and external events associated with CIRI research, support development and delivery. This includes maintenance and continued development of the scientific Master Tracker.

  *   Conduct external research on CIRI topics for supporting information.

  *   Expand CIRI's technical and subject matter presence through the development of internal and external materials via reports, blogs, presentations, web materials and supporting researchers on journal articles, data presentations, and research documentation.
  *   Coordinate between technical and outreach to track and provide quarterly and annual reports on research initiatives .
  *   Maintains the Science Technical Bibliography
  *   Manages internal and external relationships and resources to achieve project deliverables
  *   Supports and may lead, preparation, presentation, and submission of research grant and contract proposals.
Qualifications:
While no one candidate will embody all the qualifications enumerated below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences:
Education and Experience: Master of Public Health (MPH) with environmental and health science research emphasis or PhD in chemistry, biological sciences, biomedical engineering, environmental pollution and /or toxicological sciences.  Required 2 years' experience post graduate experience in active research and development of written scientific research materials.
Technical Capabilities:

  *   Experience in conducting various research methodologies (including both qualitative and quantitative studies), statistical analysis, and translation and dissemination of research and evaluation findings.
  *   Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively on a team and with diverse external partners.

Position 2: Research Assistant
Position Summary:
Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI), a Research Institute of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., is recruiting an entry level research assistant to support in house human exposure studies of emissions of flame retardants, 3D printer emissions, VOCs, and particle contaminants from various sources. This position will support current research scientists and their research initiatives.
Job Location:
This position is based at Chemical Insights Marietta, Georgia (Atlanta) office/laboratory  location.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support field and in house studies with documentation, operation of human exposure chambers, collection and analysis of environmental samples, data analysis and tracking of research data.
Prepare and calibrate field and in house instrumentation.
Document protocols and procedures associated with research developed protocols.
Upload laboratory data into reporting systems to generate data packages for specific research needs.
Conduct research as needed on research topics.
Support maintenance and operation of the laboratory
Thrive in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

Position 3: Research Mass Spectroscopist
Position Summary:

Chemical Insights Research Institute (CIRI), a Research Institute of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., is recruiting an experienced Senior Research Analytical Mass Spectroscopist to join its Human Exposure/ Toxicological Sciences Research Team.  Evidence linking environmental chemical exposures and a wide array of health outcomes including asthma, neurological disorders, obesity, allergies and cardiovascular disease. Our goal is to establish a top of class analytical facility to develop and implementation new tools/techniques that facilitate the study of exposure assessment and health outcomes. This role will be responsible for establishing the analytical facility, supporting research initiatives on the analysis and fate of indoor environmental pollutants; human exposure measurements; and research protocols for cutting edge proteomics and metabolomics.

This position is based at Chemical Insights Marietta, Georgia (Atlanta) office/laboratory location.
Primary Responsibilities:
Specify, acquire, and establish operation of instrumentation to support research.
Have most current knowledge of GC/MS, GC-HRMS, LC-MS/MS and how to ensure their safe operation and maintenance.
Establish methodologies and protocols to support exposure studies with specific focus on chemicals such as VOCs, PFAS, flame retardants, and biological matrices for metabolites measurements.
Prepare and analyze environmental and biological samples using both standard and complex testing according to research development and EPA/FDA recommended methodologies.
Validate data and review for accuracy through multiple reviews.
Upload laboratory data into reporting system to generate data packages for research applications.
Prepare journal articles and deliver technical presentations on research developments and applications.
Essential Requirements:
* PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or relevant scientific field
* 2-5 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience
* Background in analytical (bio)chemistry with emphasis on gas chromatography mass spectrometry applications in at least one of the following: PK of biologics (ADCs or Proteins), biomarker quantification, characterization and relative quantification for chemical impurities, metabolites and or proteins
* Hands-on experience with chromatographic separation, characterization and quantification of various analytes by LCMS.
* Familiarity with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry instruments, experience with high resolution (HRMS, ToF or Orbitrap) is a plus.
* Proficiency with mass spectrometry software, data analysis software (Spotfire, R, MATLAB, JMP, etc.) word processing, and graphical computer programs*
Plan and execute analytical method development, optimization, and qualification experiments including identity, purity, and safety analysis of a variety of different chemical modalities.
* Bring an innovative and efficient mindset to our chromatography and mass spectroscopy methods and techniques.
* Contribute to SOPs, reports, protocols, regulatory documents, and publications.
