Weber State University and the Department of Geography, Environment &
Sustainability (Geography Department <https://www.weber.edu/geography/>)
invite applications for a tenure-track position (starting January 2022)
with broad expertise in physical geography, the natural environment, and
sustainability studies.
The successful candidate will be expected to: 1) teach 4 lower- and
upper-division physical geography and sustainability courses per semester
in their area(s) of expertise (at least 1-2 courses will include
introductory physical geography); 2) establish an active and sustained
research program that informs teaching and complements existing department
specialties; 3) seek external funding in support of teaching, research, and
scholarship; and 4) establish collaborations with department members,
faculty across campus, as well as research with University and community
partners.
Minimum Requirements include: a Ph.D. (or one expected by spring/summer
2022) in Geographical Science, Geography, Sustainability Studies, or a
closely related discipline; expertise in areas of physical geography; and
evidence of excellent undergraduate teaching using active-learning
pedagogies. Demonstrated ability to apply geospatial technology in teaching
and research is a preferred qualification.
