The Ground Based Remote Sensing Engineer is responsible for solving
engineering design problems in ground based remote sensing equipment,
including profilers and radars. Specific responsibilities include:

   - Integrates complex instrumentation and data acquisition systems used
   in the laboratory and for the remote collection of meteorological data
   which also includes original design and the integration of existing
   terrestrial and space-based telemetry systems.
   - Designs complex instruments involving mechanical/electrical
   engineering disciplines that include developing new or upgraded systems,
   digital circuits, firmware including simulations, prototyping, circuit
   board fabrication, coding, and testing.
   - Manages the engineering design and development for lead investigators,
   ensuring compatibility between multiple deployment platforms for
   multi-investigator, multi-institution, research projects for non-Federal
   and Federal agencies (California Department of Water Resources, National
   Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, National Park Service, U.S
   Army Corps of Engineers, and local water agencies).
   - Advises PIs in determining reasonable design specifications.
   - Provides general engineering consultation to academic staff and other
   personnel regarding instrument capabilities and limitations.
   - Leads the implementation and execution of field campaigns with
   guidance from Field Research Manager and/or PI.
   - Contributes to decisions on timing of field campaigns considering
   instrument requirements, weather, personnel scheduling and safety, and
   integration of assets from other agencies.

weather and water events on the environment, people and the economy of
