Arizona Institutes for Resilience (AIR)<https://environment.arizona.edu/air> at the University of Arizona<https://www.arizona.edu/> invites applications for a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance, Postdoctoral Research Associate in the recently established & cross-cutting postdoctoral cluster hire "Bridging Biodiversity & Conservation Science (BBCS): Forecasting Future Environments<https://bbcs.arizona.edu/>" initiated in 2016.  The position connects to an exciting scientific interface addressing "global grand challenges" in biodiversity & conservation science & its role in sustaining societal well-being.
BBCS provides an opportunity for interdisciplinary training, with access to excellent core facilities, & engaging in a team approach with other post-doctoral fellows. The scientific goal of the BBCS program is to build a more robust & predictive biodiversity & conservation science through integration with epidemiology, informatics, & public policy. We will address emerging, critical issues in preventing extinction, preserving ecosystem & human health, & food security. By forecasting future environments & patterns of biodiversity under changing physical, social, & economic conditions, we not only will be able to anticipate future challenges & opportunities in health & food security, but also aim to develop governance & conservation strategies to address these challenges.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Work under the supervision of a Research Director & an interdisciplinary group of the BBCS Core Faculty
* Lead synthesis or group research papers linking biodiversity and environmental databases.
* Work as part of a team of post-doctoral fellows and faculty on additional interdisciplinary projects and group synthesis papers.
* Develop proposals for external funding in line with broader mission of BBCS to bridge the fields of conservation and biodiversity with public policy, public health and food security.
* Additional duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Applicants must have, as of the beginning date of the appointment, a Ph.D. (or M.D.) in a field related to biodiversity and conservation from an accredited institution.
* Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or non-citizen national per NIH grant requirements.
