Job Description:

A postdoctoral position is available in the department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at the University at Albany, State University of New York, under the supervision of Dr. Rixiang Huang. The postdoctoral researcher will work primarily on a USDA-funded project on microbe-mediated organic matter decomposition in agricultural soils. This is a multi-institute project that involves collaboration with investigators at Cornell University and University of Arizona. This position is immediately available and the initial appointment is one year with possible renewal that depends on funding availability and performance.

The desired qualifications for this position include:

1)    A Ph.D in soil sciences, agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, or other closely related disciplines;

2)    Demonstrated research experiences in soil incubation studies, soil sampling, soil chemical and biochemical analysis, and/or agricultural field studies;

3)    Extensive hand-on experiences in relevant analytical instruments, such as gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectroscopy, and/or nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy;

4)    Strong scientific communication skills;
