MS opportunity in Environmental Science: Air Quality
Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi

A MS in Environmental Science opportunity is available with the Felix Research Group in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. As part of a collaboration with the City of Corpus Christi, our research group will be maintaining three air quality monitoring stations in the city. The student will work with current graduate students to maintain and calibrate federal reference method (FRM) air quality instrumentation and will work with the city to update their ozone action plan. The regional community continues to express concern about the current lack of air quality monitoring and the potential adverse effects associated with planned industrial expansion. In addition to providing monthly reports for the community, the potential student will interact with local stakeholders to provide summaries of their regional air quality. Potential students should be highly self-motivated, comfortable speaking in public settings and have a strong background in environmental science. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in air quality and air quality measurements.

This position is slated to begin in the first summer session or fall semester depending on the candidate’s availability. The position will be supported by stipends through a research assistantship and two semesters of tuition funding with the potential for continued assistantship and tuition support depending on performance. Interested candidates should contact Dr. J. David Felix (joseph.felix at tamucc.edu) and provide a short statement of interest and CV. A valid driver’s license is required for the position.
