Position Description
The Department of Marine Biology (MARB) at Texas A&M University at Galveston invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning Sept. 1, 2022. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Assistant Professor.
We welcome applicants with expertise in any aspect of coral reef biology, including, but not limited to, ecology, evolution, and behavior of coral reef organisms. Interdisciplinary research topics are encouraged to promote Texas A&M-Galveston's strategic goals relative to the Blue Economy <https://www.tamug.edu/academicaffairs/StrategicPlan.html> Framework<https://www.tamug.edu/academicaffairs/StrategicPlan.html>, as well as anthropogenic climate change. Texas A&M-Galveston offers a competitive start-up package and state-of-the-art facilities to support the development of an extramurally-funded and productive coral reef research program. The new faculty member will be well-positioned to intersect with other research labs within MARB, across Texas A&M University, as well as with outside organizations including the NOAA Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary<https://flowergarden.noaa.gov/> and the Moody Gardens Coral Reef Lab<https://www.moodygardens.com/attractions/aquarium_pyramid/coral-reef-lab/>. The MARB department has implemented a two-year teaching rotation which typically includes three semesters of undergraduate teaching and one semester of graduate teaching (2 classes per academic year). The new faculty member might teach undergraduate classes such as Conservation Biology, Marine Ecology, and/or a new class in coral reef biology; the graduate class will be in the area of the person's expertise.

Qualifications
Required qualifications: Ph.D. in biology, marine biology, marine science, biological oceanography or related fields; Preferred qualifications: postdoctoral or other related job experience; and a strong publication record.
