Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity at the University of Toronto

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the University of
Toronto in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Physics.

Description of duties:

In this Canadian Space Agency-funded project, the successful candidate
will combine satellite measurements and a high-resolution model over
Canada to address two main questions about Canadian air quality and
greenhouse gas emissions: 1. How well can satellite measurements of
carbon monoxide (CO) constrain Boreal forest fire emissions and improve
the current state-of-the-art Boreal fire emissions models? and 2. How
well can satellite measurements of methane (CH4) reduce uncertainty on
Canada’s anthropogenic methane emissions?

Salary: 55,000CAD/year plus benefits

Required qualifications:

The candidate must have completed a PhD or be scheduled to complete
their PhD before beginning the position. Expertise is required in one or
more of the following areas: atmospheric physics or chemistry,
environmental science and engineering, or biogeochemistry. Experience
working with, modifying, and running an atmospheric model is required;
experience with GEOS-Chem is preferred. Experience interpreting large
atmospheric datasets is strongly desirable. Applicants should have
demonstrated quantitative and computational skills, and a successful
publication record.

Application instructions:

All individuals interested in this position must submit a CV, names and
contact information of three references, and a cover letter detailing
current and future research interests to Prof. Debra Wunch
