[ES_JOBS_NET] Fully funded Ph.D. position in urban thermal enviornment research

The urban climate research group in the Department of Atmospheric and Earth Science (AES) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville seeks a Ph.D. student beginning as soon as the summer or fall of 2022. This NASA-funded position will support the investigation of fine-scale urban thermal environmental changes and the long-term efficacy of cooling infrastructure and its performance under heat extremes. The student will have opportunities to use remote sensing and ground observations and to engage in activities with stakeholders at the city and state levels.

Requirements
The prospective candidate is expected to have strong quantitative background training in one or more of the following areas: remote sensing, climatology, geostatistics, big data analytics, or other related physical sciences. Familiarity with at least one programming language (R, Python, MATLAB, etc.) is highly desirable. The potential candidate is expected to have strong written and verbal communication skills.
