This position will lead the Amazonia hub at the SERVIR Science Coordination Office (SCO) at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This position will provide expertise, conduct science, assess needs, and lead coordination activities primarily focused on Amazonia, but also related to other global hubs in support of thematic applied science areas in ecosystems, water, and climate.

SERVIR is a NASA and USAID joint project that enables the use of Earth observations and geospatial technologies for improved societal decision-making in SERVIR regions. SERVIR is active in the Amazonia, West Africa, Eastern and Southern Africa, Hindu Kush Himalaya, Southeast Asia, and is expected to grow to other parts of the world in the near future. The SERVIR portfolio of products is designed and based around the needs of SERVIR regions. The portfolio is rapidly growing with increasing numbers of science applications being developed, and training conducted, to meet the needs of SERVIR regions. SERVIR hub institutions provide a key interface between the needs of SERVIR regions and the potential use of Earth observations and geospatial technologies and also provide key technical support to regional and national governmental institutions.

Minimum Requirements:	
- Bachelor's degree in Earth Science, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science, or a similar field
- 45 - 51 months of full-time verifiable work experience
- Experience managing and co-developing science products and applications with intergovernmental organizations
- Experience developing geospatial science-based products using NASA and other remote sensing data to support environmental management in a development context
- Regional-appropriate expertise
- Excellent teamwork and coordination skills
- Technical/analytical expertise, including Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing (active and/or passive), programming and automation, data management experience
- Experience in and understanding of international development contexts
- Understanding of regional needs, priorities, and state of science
- Ability and desire to develop relationships, collaborations, and networks
- Ability to provide complementary expertise (for example thematic expertise) to other regions
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity pertinent to the region
- Professional experience abroad

Desired Qualifications:	
- Master's degree in Earth Science, Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science, or a similar field is preferred
- Fluency in another language, preferably Spanish, to facilitate communication with other project focus areas and potential focus areas is desired
- Experience mentoring Graduate Research Assistants, interns, and student researchers is preferred
- Familiarity working with NASA or other domestic and international partners is desired
- Experience writing peer-reviewed proposals for external funding is preferred
