Founded in 1951, the Nature Conservancy is a global conservation organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. Guided by science, we create innovative, on‐the‐ground solutions to our world's toughest challenges so that nature and people can thrive together. We are tackling climate change, conserving lands, waters and oceans at unprecedented scale, providing food and water sustainably and helping make cities more sustainable. One of our core values is our commitment to diversity. Therefore, we strive for a globally diverse and culturally competent workforce. Working in 72 countries and territories, including all 50 United States, we use a collaborative approach that engages local communities, governments, the private sector, and other partners. We are rooted in our Mission and guided by our Values, which includes a Commitment to Diversity and Respect for People, Communities, and Cultures. We know we’ll only achieve our Mission by hiring and engaging a diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we work. Whether it’s career development, work/life balance, or a rewarding mission, there’s lots of reasons to love life #insideTNC. Our goal is to cultivate an inclusive work environment so that all our colleagues around the globe feel a sense of belonging, and that their unique contributions to our mission are valued.

The Director of Conservation for the Hawaii Chapter guides and oversees the work of a diverse and geographically dispersed team focused on the planning, science, development and implementation of strategies tailored to sustain biodiversity and provide a suite of ecosystem services that benefit society in Hawaii and Palmyra. They establish the Conservancy as a major conservation leader and/or partner on relevant and significant conservation issues and broad-scale conservation strategies, including but not limited to native forest and freshwater protection and restoration, reef and fisheries resilience and health, and natural climate solutions for climate mitigation, climate adaptation, and resilient native biodiversity. The strategic approach of the conservation program is to collaboratively develop and demonstrate science-based solutions to major environmental challenges in Hawaii and Palmyra, and to “scale up” successful models through policy change, tool development, or building community capacity to effect conservation more broadly. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the Hawaii Chapter is aligned with, and contributing to, TNC’s global and North American conservation priorities. The Director reports to the Hawaii Chapter Executive Director, is a member of the Hawaii Leadership Team, and will be based in Hawaii.
