Post Doctoral Scholar -Life & Environmental Sciences- Soil Biogeochemistry

The postdoc recruited for this position will work on a collaborative project with the Salk Institute of Biological Studies - Harnessing Plants Initiative. The project will investigate deep soil organic matter dynamics, in particular retention and persistence of plant-derived organic compounds in deep soil layers. Responsibilities of the postdoc will include leading all the field and laboratory work related to the project (including traveling to multiple research sites across the US Southwest, wet chemistry, dry combustion/elemental and isotopic analyses, spectroscopy, and a range of soil analyses) along with leading the data analyses and manuscript preparation for all items related to the project.

Salary is based on the University of California Academic Salary Scales. This is a full-time, one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal based on availability of funding, ongoing operational needs and satisfactory performance.
