Description:At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin is a pioneer,
partner, innovator, and builder. Our outstanding people are on a mission to
make a difference in the world and every single day we use our unique skills
and experiences to create, craft, and build solutions to some of the world's
hardest engineering problems. Do you want to be part of a culture that
encourages employees to think big, perform with excellence and build
incredible products? We provide the resources, inspiration, and focus - if
you have the passion and courage to dream big, then we want to build a
better tomorrow with you!

The Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is the research lab for Lockheed Martin
Space. Through our own skills and those of our partners-including
universities and research labs around the world-we're able to put vision in
motion. We strive for first-of-a-kind capability with enduring impact.
Whatever the application, our charter is to build groundbreaking
technologies. At the ATC, we're inspiring change in our endless pursuit of
what's next.

As an ATC Senior Research Scientist, you will participate in the full life
cycle developing advanced physical, chemical, and optical systems for the
study of advanced classical and quantum-mechanical phenomena in remote
sensing. We want a colleague with deep knowledge in the development of
design, development, performance and reporting of experiments to measure
fundamental physical and chemical properties of condensed matter and their
classical and quantum-mechanical interactions. Investigations incorporate
the use of lasers, optics, cryogenics, vacuum systems, precision
electronics, and high-performance detectors for the measurement of linear
and nonlinear dynamics.

We are looking for someone who has:
. Design and modeling of complex physical and chemical systems
. Precise wavelength and phase stabilization of lasers, optical parametric
oscillators and amplifiers and frequency conversion devices
. Familiarity with current state-of-the-art in optical materials and optical
systems
. Additional knowledge of related laser-based remote sensing technologies is
desired, including coherent and direct detection laser radar, radiometry,
Fourier/wave optics, beam propagation, and/or atmospheric sciences
. Experience in one or more of the following areas: customized simulations
of condensed matter and/or chemical physics, diffractive beam propagation,
thermo-optic effects and parametric processes

You should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as
well as the ability to present effectively to both technical and
non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization.

In this role, you be considered an emerging technical authority in atomic,
molecular, and optical physics. You will engage in the planning, conduct,
and leadership of research and development efforts in the laboratory and via
analysis. We will look to you to be a leading member of our team. We are
open to hiring multiple people in this role.

You would typically have a Bachelors degree and 5-10 years of professional
experience, a Masters and 3-8 years, or a PhD and 0-5 years.

Our employees play an active role in strengthening the quality of life where
we live and work by volunteering more than 850,000 hours annually. Here are
