The Earth and Environmental Science Department at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor in geophysics. We seek candidates whose interests would complement the Department’s strengths in understanding the Earth using geophysical techniques; applicants with interests in any field of observational, experimental, or computational geophysics are welcome. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, independent, and externally funded research program supporting M.S. and Ph.D. students and teach three courses per year.

New Mexico Tech, located in the central Rio Grande valley community of Socorro, specializes in science and engineering education and research, and has an enrollment of approximately 2000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Earth and Environmental Science Department (www.nmt.edu/academics/ees) has undergraduate programs in Earth Science and Environmental Science, and M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Geophysics, Geology, Geochemistry, Geobiology, and Hydrology.  The Department consists of 15 faculty and approximately 100 undergraduate and graduate students. Additional on-campus geoscience expertise includes the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (geoinfo.nmt.edu), Petroleum Recovery Research Center (www.prrc.nmt.edu <http://www.prrc.nmt.edu/>), and IRIS-PASSCAL (www.passcal.nmt.edu).
