Dear all,
I have a new postdoc position open in my group at UC Berkeley/LBNL. Please
see details below and distribute widely. For more information see:
https://www.keenangroup.info/join_us.html
*Postdoctoral Scholar *– *Global Photosynthesis, CO2 and feedbacks*
*Department of Environmental Science, Policy & Management *
(apply here: https://tinyurl.com/KeenanPostdoc)
There is an opening for a creative and self-motivated postdoctoral scholar
position in the group of Prof. Keenan (http://www.keenangroup.info/) at UC
Berkeley.
The postdoc will participate in a NASA Carbon Cycle project, aimed at
understanding the effect of rising atmospheric CO2 on global photosynthesis
and resulting feedbacks to the climate system. The project will use that
understanding in combination with observations and experiments to improve
land ecosystem models. The postdoc will also collaborate across multiple
ongoing projects in the group, and work closely with external collaborators.
The ideal candidate would have familiarity with photosynthesis,
eddy-covariance measurements, land surface models and/or remote sensing.
Candidates with strong quantitative skills and an interest in developing
skills in any of the above areas are also encouraged to apply.
Specific duties of the position include:
• The application of quantitative analytical methods to large datasets
• Critical appraisal of ecological and physiological theory, in particular
in relation to photosynthesis
• The use and development of remote sensing data and techniques
• Model development and implementation
• Presentation of results at scientific meetings
• Publishing of results in scientific journals
• Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
Required qualifications:
• PhD (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a PhD degree
program (or equivalent international degree) at the time of application.
• Must have less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience
Preferred qualifications:
• Proficient coding skills in at least one of: R, Matlab, Python, Fortran
• Knowledge of ecophysiology and plant biochemistry
• Both numerical and communication skills
• Evidence of ability to publish results in relevant journals
• Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
The review of applicants will begin on Aug 27th, and continue until the
position is filled. Please submit your application below by Aug 27th in
order to be given full consideration.
Salary scales are commensurate with experience, starting at $60,000 per
year, with generous benefits. The position is located at UC Berkeley, CA,
with remote start considered depending on circumstances.
Thanks, and apologies for cross-posting,
- Trevor
