Second call for applications for this position (assistant professor). There is flexibility on the research foci, but successful candidates must be excited and able to teach GIS and other aspects of data science (e.g., analytics or remote sensing).

The Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences of Cleveland State University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in Environmental Science and Data Analytics. Primary duties include conducting research and teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Environmental Science. Opportunities for collaboration and outreach beyond the department exist within the intercollege Center for Research on the Urban Environment (CRUE) and the new Center for Applied Data Analysis and Modeling (ADAM). Regionally, there are diverse options for collaboration with other institutions, including the Holden Arboretum, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Cleveland Metroparks, Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, Cleveland Water Alliance, and with nearby universities (e.g., Case Western Reserve University and Kent State University). Salary is competitive with other research-intensive universities. Startup funds are available and proportional to potential for acquiring external funding. Review of applications will begin on February 8th, 2021 and preference will be given to candidates with applications that are complete by that date (including 3 letters from references). For details, see https://hrjobs.csuohio.edu/postings/13513. Inquiries about the job, application process, university, or region may be sent to the search committee chair, Dr. Kevin Mueller (k.mueller89 at csuohio.edu<mailto:k.mueller89 at csuohio.edu>). CSU is a young (est. in 1964), rapidly evolving university with a growing research profile. Among public universities that fulfill a critical dual mission, providing upward mobility and conducting impactful research, CSU is ranked 18th in the U.S., first in Ohio. Our downtown campus and Cleveland itself have been noted for their substantial revitalization and livability.
