[ES_JOBS_NET] USGS student contractor position in Lakewood, CO in remotely-sensed post-fire evapotranspiration

The USGS Geological Survey Water Mission Area is looking for a student contractor  to perform or assist with investigations of post-wildfire effects on water availability in the Upper Colorado River basin, including any of the following: filtering USGS stream gage records to isolate areas of historical wildfire, estimating remotely-sensed evapotranspiration, developing statistical or machine learning models, correlating changes in post-fire evapotranspiration with watershed attributes and discharge measurements, and utilizing cloud computing resources. Work shall be conducted remotely. Must be motivated and a self-starter.  Inquire for further job requirements.

Work will be done remotely.

Applicant must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking graduate student. Student shall have completed four or more years of academic course work (i.e. completed a BA/BS degree) including study of physics, civil engineering, geology, soil science, forestry, or hydrology. Student shall have knowledge of hydrological principles and practices to apply standard scientific techniques in the completion of assignments involving investigations and studies. Student shall have knowledge of scientific disciplines related to analysis of remotely-sensed evapotranspiration. Student is expected to have knowledge of basic computer operations, including desktop and laptop units and cloud computing.
