DESCRIPTION

passion for improving the way that research institutions, businesses, and
governments collaborate with each other? Do you enjoy creating new business

solutions?

Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Technical Business
Development Manager to accelerate our customers’ usage of open geospatial
data. This is an excellent opportunity to join AWS’s world-class technical

innovative technology companies in the world today. As an Open Data
Technical Business Development Manager within AWS, you will have the
opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and
broad usage of AWS's utility computing web services such as AWS Lambda,
Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), and Amazon Athena across our customer
base.

The ideal candidate will…
· Enjoy working with customers and partners. You will have a passion for
educating, training, designing, and building cloud computing systems for a
diverse and challenging set of customers and partners working in
governments, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and
commercial companies.
· Have a strong understanding of large scale-cloud computing solutions. The
ideal candidate will have past experience working with open data and
researchers. You will enjoy keeping your existing technical skills and
developing new ones, to the point that you can not only contribute to but
lead deep discussions around systems and applications in the cloud.
Roles & Responsibilities
· Coordinate project design with internal teams (e.g., product, legal,
sales, marketing) and external customers. Scope projects by creating clear,
prioritized requirements documents based on customer needs, internal
priorities, and competitive information.
· Identify high-value and high-impact datasets that are underutilized.
Identify ways to use cloud computing to increase usage of these data sets.
· Identify repeatable use cases and create reusable content to encourage
replication.
· Work with service teams and technical teams to drive usage of open data
on AWS.
· Grow the customer-centric activities carried out through the Earth on AWS
program.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or related
technical/science discipline
· 8+ years experience working with data
· 1+ year of data science experience working with geospatial data tools and
frameworks
· At least 4+ months of cloud computing experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Demonstrated experience managing initiatives involving cross-functional
teams and external parties
· Experience and interest in using map data in a variety of contexts
· Interest in open data policy
· Background in data science and large-scale computing that enables them to
easily interact with researchers and research IT organizations
· Possess both technical and customer-facing skills that will allow them to
be the “face” of AWS with our solution providers’
· Ability to drive discussions with senior technical and business
leadership within customers and partners, as well as the technical
background that enables him or her to interact with and give guidance to
software developers, IT professionals, and system architects. Demonstrated
ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical
challenges
· Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as the ability
to work effectively across internal and external organizations. Executive
speaking and presentation skills including formal presentations, white
boarding, large and small group presentations
· Web services development/deployment experience, IT systems and network
engineering experience, security and compliance experience, software
engineering experience, etc
· Business understanding of cloud computing as a fundamentally disruptive
technical and business strategy; market analysis; cost benefit analysis,
RFP/Acquisition support; etc
· Advisory/consulting experience with research, educational institutions,
state and/or local governments
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity
