Job Title: Scientist, Aerosols and Clouds Group
Location: Pasadena, CA

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) invites applications for a full-time scientist position to develop multi-sensor synergistic cloud remote sensing products that combine active and passive observations for the CloudSat and future missions that will be part of NASAs planned Earth System Observatory. The scientist will work closely with science teams at JPL to develop, maintain, and validate those cloud retrieval algorithms. In addition, the scientist is expected to work in a dynamic team environment addressing cutting-edge challenges in aerosol-cloud-precipitation interactions by developing novel observational metrics to evaluate the underlying processes in climate models. The scientist will develop a programmatic strategy to strengthen ties between JPL's cloud remote sensing and it's climate and energy balance communities.
The selected individual will publish scientific findings in top-tiered peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as presenting results in the related science team meetings, workshops and conferences. The selected individual is expected to pursue additional funding opportunities through NASA ROSES to demonstrate the scientific utilization of the NASA's current and future cloud observations to understand key issues in climate variability and change including within the areas of aerosol, cloud, convection, and precipitation highlighted by the recent Earth Science Decadal Survey.
A Ph.D in Atmospheric Science, Geophysics or a related technical discipline is required. Peer-reviewed publications that demonstrate the areas of required experience mentioned above are necessary.
JPL is committed to engaging and retaining a highly skilled and diverse workforce.
