We are recruiting two fully funded PhD students in atmospheric chemistry modeling in the Department of Environmental Science at Baylor University. Successful candidates will use atmospheric modeling tools across different temporal and spatial scales to better understand atmospheric chemistry and air quality-climate interactions.
Specific projects include trace gas chemistry, aerosol-cloud interactions, urban air quality, extreme events (e.g., wildfire and dust) under a changing climate, and trends in greenhouse gas emissions and air quality co-benefits. Research involves extensive collaborations within and beyond the university. Funding is guaranteed for PhD students through fellowship and research and teaching assistantships.

Requirements:

  * Applicants should have obtained a degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, chemistry, physics, or related fields with a grade point average better than B (English grade), and have basic knowledge of atmospheric chemistry.
  * A strong background in math, chemistry, physics and programming is preferred.
  * We particularly value applicants with a robust track record of scientific research.
  * Candidates should be fluent in English (written and spoken).

Application:

  * Candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Yang Li<https://www.baylor.edu/environmentalscience/index.php?id=975626> (yang_li3 at baylor.edu<mailto:yang_li3 at baylor.edu>) before applying, by emailing a one-paragraph brief statement of research interest, a curriculum vitae (CV) that includes detailed information on academic qualifications, transcripts, and contact information for two references.
