Job Description and Duties

CIMIS is seeking for a highly motivated individual with an excellent technical and analytical background in estimation of reference evapotranspiration (ETo), crop coefficient (Kc), and management of automatic weather stations.  The incumbent will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing scientific studies to refine and validate methods that CIMIS uses to estimate ETo from ground stations and to produce ETo maps (Spatial CIMIS).



The successful candidate will work closely with experts from Department of Water Resources (DWR) and outside the department, including local water agencies, universities, consultants and government entities to conduct scientific studies that will produce high quality ETo and actual evapotranspiration (ETc) data; identify crop coefficient (Kc) data needs and work with experts to develop and improve methods for gathering Kc values; evaluate, develop and troubleshoot CIMIS station problems; work closely with Division of Technology Services (DTS), headquarters and Regional Offices'

CIMIS staff to guarantee the quality and integrity of CIMIS data.



The successful candidate is expected to maintain constant communication with the Regional Offices' CIMIS staff and cooperators to improve station maintenance and quality of CIMIS data; design and provide training to CIMIS staff; and support efforts to identify sites for new CIMIS stations.
