We are excited to share that we have an opening for a postdoc to join our team, working on development and field testing of a new technology for assessment of personal exposure to airborne hazards. We would like your help in recruiting a diverse pool of applications to the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Air Toxics in the Colorado State University Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (see attached flyer).



The technology combines direct-reading sensors (and integrated sampling technologies) for gases and particles into a wearable device designed for crowdsourced air quality measurement and citizen-science approaches to exposure science. Initial planned field deployments are designed to demonstrate the utility of a citizen-science approaches to increase knowledge and awareness of respiratory hazards in workplace, residential, and environmental settings. The position we are advertising would place the postdoc at the forefront of advancing performance of this technology.



The successful candidate will work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, physical and social scientists, and public health practitioners to assess air pollution emissions and exposures across indoor and outdoor environments (with a primary focus on volatile organic compounds). The work requires knowledge of analytical chemistry and experience with thermal desorption gas chromatography mass spectrometry systems. The candidate should also have an interest in exposure science, environmental justice, and public health. Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently and within a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary research environment, and be comfortable conversing with academicians, community members, workforce, and policy makers. This is a one-year appointment with the option to renew based on performance and availability of funding.
