About Us
Jupiter is the global market leader in analytics for resilience planning
and enterprise climate risk management, especially in financial services,
industrial, the public sector, and NGOs.

Jupiter is led by pioneers in data, climate, and earth and ocean sciences,
as well as technology, risk management, company building, and public
policy. Our climate risk modeling solutions save lives and mitigate
potentially catastrophic impacts inflicted by hurricanes, floods, heat
waves, wildfires, drought, and other extreme weather events on homes,
businesses, infrastructure, food and water supplies, and entire economies.

We seek new colleagues—data scientists, physical scientists, software
engineers, company builders, and more—who share our passion for excellence,
innovation, and collaboration. Jupiter was founded on the principle that
with the right approaches and the right team, we can prepare Earth’s
economies to meet the challenges associated with climate change. We value
working in an inclusive and equitable environment, with team diversity that
reflects the world we live in.

Jupiter is hiring a dynamic individual to continue to lead development of
our next-generation global inland flood model. You will work with data
scientists, physical scientists, and software engineers to implement,
interpret, and scale hydrologic and hydraulic modeling capabilities
globally. Model preparation, calibration, and execution will be primary
parts of your contributions to Jupiter’s mission. Innovations toward
automation, cloud deployment, and open-source solutions will provide you
the opportunity to think differently about hydrology and hydraulic modeling.

Your critical responsibilities include, but not limited to:

   - Design improvements to Jupiter’s global inland flood model
   - Collaborate with other leadership to prioritize development and
   implementation of flood model components
   - Define and review new prototypes and modeling software for inclusion

   - Ensure development of a flexible model that allows further
differentiation from competitors in the future
   - Manage day to day activities of a diverse team of software engineers
and scientists who are collaborating on that development
   - Understand Jupiter’s scalable cloud-based computing environment, and
   ensure product compliance
   - Collaborate with other teams within Jupiter who are working on
   complementary product components
   - Collaborate with the model validation team
   - Identify and remove project blockers
   - Maintain morale among team members
   - Report to leadership on plans, progress, and risks

What You Bring:

   - A Doctorate or Masters degree from an accredited college or university

hydraulics, flood forecasting or water resource management
   - At least 12 years of experience in the field, which may include work
   towards a Ph.D
   - Experience with implementing regional distributed hydrologic and
   hydraulic models
   - Experience with calibrating hydrologic models
   - Experience with coupling climate, weather, coastal, hydrologic, and
hydraulic component models using open source models
   - Experience in Linux and writing clear code for operational use using
   high-level languages (e.g. Python or R)
   - Experience leading projects or teams
   - Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in team
