This search is somewhat open-ended, as we seek some combination of weather expertise, programming skills, GIS expertise, and/or web development. No candidate need possess all skills.

Salary: 50K-60K, pending qualifications.

Job Description:

Description of Duties:

Primary job responsibilities will include a range of programming, web-development, research, weather forecasting, and presentation tasks. These may include converting existing NCL programs to Python, building new meteorological product or website functionality for use by COE partners in transportation, utility/energy, education, or other sectors. Hires will also facilitate ongoing research in these areas as well as participate in occasional weather briefings and project presentations. The employee's tasks will be commensurate with their qualifications, capabilities, and interests (where applicable).

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  *   Bachelor degree in Meteorology or Computer science or a GIS/mapping field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  *   Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Master's degree or greater in Meteorology or Computer science or a GIS/mapping field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization (If the degree is not in meteorology, a basic understanding of meteorology and/or forecasting is preferred).
  *   Strong programming (preferably python) or web design skills.

Additional Information:

Salary Range:  $50,000-$60,000
