Duties & Responsibilities:

  *   Supervisor of research personnel providing technical and administrative direction of a laboratory intensive organization
     *   Responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and coordinating the full range of technical and managerial functions of the branch to ensure Agency goals are met.
     *   Recommend employee promotions and recognition; approve leave; implement performance plans; take corrective actions as appropriate.  Responsible for personnel and career path development, succession planning and program alignment within the branch.
     *   Lead and mentor employees performing work at GS-13-15 levels.  Define work requirements, resources, schedules, strategic plans, and office goals to meet mission objectives.
     *   Develop strategies for research directions and maintain and enhance unique research and laboratory capabilities as a resource for the Agency and the scientific community.
     *   Provide employees resources and information that ensures a safe and healthy work environment.
     *   Provide equal opportunity in all Federal human capital and employment programs.

  *   Serve as a member of the Astromaterials Research and Exploration Science Division (ARES) leadership team, interface and communicate branch status, products, and services within ARES, and encourage collaboration across ARES, other JSC organizations, other Centers, and the external science community.
  *   Interface and communicate astromaterials research status, products, and services to the Exploration Integration and Science Directorate (XA), across JSC directorates, HQ, Program Managers, NASA leaders, other Government agencies, and contractors, as appropriate
