Don and Jennifer Holzworth Premier Fellowship in Climate Change Solutions at UNC

The Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks applicants for the Don and Jennifer Holzworth Premier Fellowship to start Fall semester 2021. The Fellowship will support a PhD student to conduct research on climate change issues involving immediate, practical policy or real-world implementation impact potential. The Fellowship provides a full ride (tuition, fees, insurance, and a strongly competitive stipend) for up to three years, and flexibility to work on issues that will be impactful for climate change policy. The Holzworth Fellow may be advised by any faculty in Environmental Sciences & Engineering; those with particular interests in climate change include Profs. Jason West<http://west.web.unc.edu>, Noah Kittner<http://sph.unc.edu/adv_profile/noah-kittner>, Greg Characklis<https://sph.unc.edu/adv_profile/gregory-characklis-phd/>, and Aaron Salzberg<https://sph.unc.edu/adv_profile/aaron-salzberg/>.

Environmental Sciences & Engineering<https://sph.unc.edu/envr/centennial-celebration/> at UNC is in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, giving our department a unique ability to conduct research connecting environmental engineering and science with human health and policy<https://sph.unc.edu/envr/department-research/>. This year we celebrate a century of environmental solutions to public health problems and a commitment to build public health resilience to climate and environmental change.

Interested PhD applicants should submit their application to the PhD program through our department's website<https://sph.unc.edu/programs/?ppk=ese-phd-r>. Applications should be received by the priority deadline, December 15, 2020. You should mention your interest in the Holzworth Fellowship in your application, and describe your interest in conducting research addressing climate change solutions. We encourage applicants from historically underrepresented minorities.
