*Job Description*

The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a full-time
tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics in the Atmospheric Science
Program. We invite applications from numerical modelers with research
interests that complement and extend beyond departmental strengths
in observational air quality, fire weather, and hydroclimate. The
successful candidate will combine excellence in research, the ability to
secure external funding, and a commitment to teaching and mentoring
students.  Teaching responsibilities will be in Atmospheric Science, both
at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We especially encourage
applications from historically underrepresented groups. The candidate’s
application should include a research plan, a statement of teaching
interest and philosophy, and a diversity and inclusion statement. A
competitive start-up package will be provided.

A Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or closely related fields is required at
time of appointment.

*Program Information*

The graduate program in Atmospheric Science was established in 1965 as a
partnership between UNR and the Desert Research Institute, and the
undergraduate program was established in 2005. There are about 25 research
and teaching faculty that participate in the program, a small subset of
which are members of the Physics Department at UNR, including this
position. At any given time there are about 25 graduate students and 25-40
undergraduate students in the program. Additional details of the graduate
