[ES_JOBS_NET] Postdoctoral researcher on climate and land use impacts on drought and peatland fires in Borneo

We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to participate in a large multidisciplinary project on drought and peatland fires Indonesian Borneo. It is evident that dry season rainfall is a strong predictor of the prevalence of peatland fires in the Central Kalimantan region of Indonesian Borneo, and forecasting future rainfall is essential for assessing future risk. The goal of this post is to investigate global climate drivers and local land use effects on temperature and precipitation to provide an estimate of future risk, as well as information on the potential to mitigate future drought through land use management.
Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent qualification/experience) in a related field of study, and prior experience running climate or numerical weather prediction models and working with complex climate model and observational datasets. The post will include writing up research for publication, presenting work at national and international conferences, and interacting with the project stakeholders.
