ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Department of Natural & Applied Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Geoscience. The ideal candidate will be interested in teaching geoscience courses in physical geology, mineralogy and petrology, ore deposits, structural geology, and/or field geology of the Great Lakes region. Those with the desire to support and collaborate with interdisciplinary programs in Environmental Science and Water Science are encouraged to apply.
This position includes the following responsibilities:

  *   Teach lower- and upper-level courses in Geoscience, including physical geology, a combined mineralogy/petrology course, structural geology, field methods, or other Geoscience-related courses.
  *   Advise and mentor students.
  *   Develop a strong research program involving collaboration with students, faculty, and individuals inside and outside the University.
  *   Contribute to Master's Program in Environmental Science and Policy.
  *   Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
  *   Perform institutional and community service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  *   Earned doctorate in a field related to Geoscience from an accredited institution. ABD candidates will be considered; however, an earned doctorate in a field related to Geoscience from an accredited institution is a necessary condition for contract renewal. ABD candidates will be hired into a terminal appointment at the rank of Instructor with a rate determined at the time of hire. Upon degree conferral during the terminal period, the contracted appointment with the rank of Assistant Professor will be reinstated.

SPECIAL NOTES:

Position is an academic year, tenure-track appointment. Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years, although tenure decisions may be at any time. Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure. Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity, and institutional service required for retention and promotion. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).
