Job ID: 310668

Directorate: Earth & Biological Sciences

Division: Biological Sciences

Group: Integrative Omics

Job Description

The Integrative Omics research group at Pacific Northwest National
Laboratory has an exciting postdoctoral researcher position available for
the development and implementation of advanced mass spectrometry-based
proteomics and metabolomics capabilities. This position involves the
development of automated methods and advanced instrumentation for system
biology research. Efforts include the development and application of
advanced ion mobility mass spectrometry technologies for the identification
and quantification of peptides/proteins and/or metabolites from small
samples of biological tissues, cells, and fluids. The candidate is expected
to develop multi-dimensional ultra-high resolution gas phase separation
instrumentation and methods, atmospheric and elevated pressure interfaces to
be coupled to an ion mobility spectrometer, ion trapping and selection
approaches that provide greatly improved separation peak capacity, limit of
detection, and dynamic range to address previously intractable biological
applications. We offer a very competitive benefits and great environment for
innovation and career growth.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months)
or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications

* Technical Expertise: Specific skills of interest include experience
in one or more of the following areas: multi-dimensional separations, Ion
mobility spectrometry approaches that provide greatly improved separation
peak capacity, limit of detection, and dynamic range.

* Breadth of relevant technical knowledge in mass spectrometry.

* Experience with SIMION is a plus.

*        Good writing skills.

*        Self-motivated and excellent communicator.
