Editor in Chief Needed for Water Resources Research

AGU seeks a dynamic, well-organized scientist with high editorial standards
and strong leadership

skills to serve a 4-year term as the Editor in Chief for Water Resources
Research, a journal publishing

original research articles and commentaries on hydrology, water resources,
and the social

sciences of water and that provide a broad understanding of the role of
water in Earth's system.

The Editor in Chief (EiC) is the principal architect of the scientific
content of the journal. The EiC

has the opportunity to influence the direction of the journal, in addition
to getting an early view of

groundbreaking research. Additionally, this person will encourage
top-quality science to be published

in the journal. This candidate should be an active scientist, well-known and
well-regarded in

his/her discipline. Working with other experienced editors and AGU staff,
the Editor in Chief is the

arbiter of the content of the journal.

Among other functions, the Editor in Chief must:

. Act as an ambassador to the author/editor/reviewer/scientist community.

. Set the strategy for the journal.

. Constitute a gender and geographically diverse editorial board.

. Assign and balance review workload.

. Make ethical decisions.

. Review and contribute to periodic monitoring reports.

. Conduct and attend meetings.
