The National Program Lead (NPL) for Watershed Management and Aquatic Ecology Research provides overall leadership for advancing watershed management and aquatics knowledge and information in R&D. The NPL liaisons with national partners; identifies national watershed and aquatic research priorities and strategic goals; represents the agency's watershed and aquatic research in national and international settings; formulates budget briefings and reports to the Department and to Congress; and builds internal and external networks and support across Forest Service deputy areas, academic disciplines, and other public and private sectors.
