Job Summary: 
The University of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position in Marine Science at the Assistant Teaching Professor level to begin in Fall 2020. The position is based on our Gulf Coast campus in Long Beach, Mississippi. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.  
The candidate will be expected to develop and deliver undergraduate courses in their field of specialization, assist with occasional outreach and student recruitment events, and provide advisement and student support in the Bachelor of Marine Science program.  The successful candidate should demonstrate the potential to contribute across disciplines and promote the continued interdisciplinary growth of the academic programs within the SOSE.  
Minimum Qualifications: 
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in marine science or a related field and have demonstrated experience in the classroom (teaching assistantships are suitable). The successful candidate will be required to pass USM employment background check.
Preferred Qualifications: 
Preference will be given to candidates with two years of experience teaching at a college or university, and a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, course development, student-centered support, academic service, communication, and commitment to diversity.
