(UVA) seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate in Climate
Dynamics. The research associate will work in the lab of Professor Kevin
Grise and participate in a project funded by the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)'s Modeling, Analysis, Predictions, and
Projections Program.

This position will focus on using global climate model output from phase 6
of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) to better characterize
the roles of the large-scale atmospheric circulation in regional climate
change in the United States in the 21st century. Innovative
mathematical/statistical techniques will be developed to better understand
the sources of uncertainty in future model projections.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Completion of a Ph.D. in atmospheric
science/meteorology, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related
discipline is required by the appointment start date. A strong background
in both atmospheric science/meteorology and mathematics/statistics is
preferred. The most qualified applicants will have 1) prior experience
working with large gridded atmospheric science datasets (atmospheric
reanalyses and/or global climate model output) on Linux or Unix operating
systems, 2) prior research experience working with North American regional
climate, and

3) excellent written and oral communication skills.

TO APPLY: Apply online for posting number R0012406 at
