Subject: [geos-chem] postdoc position

Hi all,
Ulrich Wanger (University of Mannheim) and I are searching for postdoc applicants for a new interdisciplinary ERC funded project that includes air quality modeling and cost benefit analysis, see details below. Please feel free to forward to colleagues, thanks!

Best,

Daven

Postdoctoral Scholar in Atmospheric Chemistry Modeling for Cost-Benefit Analysis,
University of Colorado Boulder / University of Mannheim

This research project will develop new tools for cost-benefit analysis of environmental policy by integrating econometric analysis with atmospheric chemistry modeling. The project will be carried out under a grant by the European Research Council to Prof. Ulrich Wagner at the University of Mannheim (Germany), in collaboration with Prof. Daven Henze at the University of Colorado Boulder.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct interdisciplinary research on topics such as industrial emissions, urban air pollution, chemistry-climate interactions, as well as the causal impacts of air pollution on human health and their valuation.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in atmospheric chemistry or related fields and substantial experience in 3-D modeling such as GEOS-Chem, WRF-Chem, CMAQ, or CESM. Additional experience relevant to the project, e.g. in analysis of satellite observations or in cost benefit analysis of health and climate impacts of emissions scenarios, is a plus. We seek applicants with a strong motivation to contribute to interdisciplinary research and an outstanding ability to communicate with researchers from other disciplines.
Applicants should send a CV, a list of three references and a brief statement of research interest to Prof. Daven Henze (daven.henze at colorado.edu<mailto:daven.henze at colorado.edu>) and Prof. Ulrich Wagner (ulrich.wagner at uni-mannheim.de<mailto:ulrich.wagner at uni-mannheim.de>). The employment contract will be with either the Henze Group at Boulder or with the Department of Economics at Mannheim, taking into consideration the candidate’s experience and preference.
The appointment is potentially for up to two years and can begin as early as August, 2020. Priority consideration will be given to applications submitted on or before March 15th, 2020. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
