The International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (IGAC<https://igacproject.org/>) Project encourages applications for a Director to join our team. The IGAC Director will lead, manage, and oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the IGAC International Project Office, which is located at the University of Colorado Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) in Boulder, CO, USA.

IGAC's mission is to facilitate Atmospheric Chemistry research towards a sustainable world. This is achieved through IGAC's three focal areas: fostering community, building capacity, and providing leadership. Through these three focal areas, IGAC has built and continues to foster an international community of scientists that are actively collaborating across geographical boundaries and disciplines to contribute to addressing the most pressing global change and sustainability issues through scientific research.

IGAC is part of a large global change and sustainability international science structure. IGAC is a Global Research Project of Future Earth<https://futureearth.org/> and jointly sponsored by the International Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (iCACGP<http://www.icacgp.org/>). IGAC collaborates with other Future Earth Global Research Projects such as the Surface-Ocean Land Atmosphere Study (SOLAS<https://www.solas-int.org/>) and the Integrated Land Ecosystem Atmosphere Processes Study (iLEAPS)<https://ileaps.org/>. In addition, IGAC works with other international organizations such as the World Meteorological Organization (WMO<https://public.wmo.int/en>) Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW<https://community.wmo.int/activity-areas/gaw>) program and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP<https://www.wcrp-climate.org/>) core project on Stratosphere-troposphere Processes and their Role in Climate (SPARC<https://www.sparc-climate.org/>). As part of this international science structure, IGAC promotes and advocates for the science and community of Atmospheric Chemistry.

The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
The IGAC Director position requires a proficient, professional, and independent scientist to execute the priorities of IGAC. The role of the IGAC Director is to:

  * Manage the IGAC IPO on a day-to-day basis under the long-term guidance of the Scientific Steering Committee (SSC).
  * Grant identification, preparation, submission, and management to fund the IGAC International Project Office and specific IGAC-sponsored events.
  * Work with the SSC to determine the mission, vision, goals, and priorities of IGAC and then design and execute short- and long-term strategies to achieve them.
  * Initiate new scientific and networking activities in collaboration with other members of the international atmospheric chemistry community to implement IGAC's mission.
  * Manage numerous scientific and networking activities to ensure they are achieving IGAC's mission and meeting the requirements set forth by the SSC.
  * Prioritize, facilitate, and/or lead IGAC sponsored/endorsed workshops, meetings, and conferences, including the annual IGAC SSC Meeting and the biennial IGAC Science Conference.
  * Develop and implement a branding and communications strategy to improve participation in IGAC and increase the visibility of atmospheric chemistry research to the broader global environmental change and sustainability community.
  * Function as the liaison between the international atmospheric chemistry community and the larger global environmental change and sustainability community by building relationships with relevant policy and stakeholder communities and representing IGAC at national and international meetings, workshops, and conferences.
