One (1) Graduate Research Assistant position, and one (1) Postdoctoral Researcher positions are available beginning Spring 2020, in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, SOEST, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

The successful applicants will work with Dr Christina Karamperidou on high-resolution weather and climate modeling in the tropical Pacific, with a focus on understanding the dynamics of atmospheric circulation response to El Niño-Southern Oscillation to inform paleoclimate proxy interpretations. 

PhD Position Requirements: Applicants must have B.S. and/or M.S. degrees in atmospheric science, environmental science, physics, or closely related fields. Strong oral and written communication skills and academic performance records are required. The successful applicant must complete the UHM Office of Graduation application process and be accepted into the UHM Atmospheric Sciences Ph.D. program.

Postdoctoral Position Requirements: Applicants must have a PhD degree in atmospheric science, environmental science, physics, or closely related fields, strong oral and written communication skills, strong publication record, and must have demonstrated strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Applicants should have experience running weather forecasting and/or global climate models. Preference will be given to applicants with familiarity with WRF, CESM and/or MPAS. Experience in using advanced statistical methods for climate data analysis, and/or working with paleoclimate data will also be considered.
