A funded PhD research opportunity is available at the University of Arkansas to study weather and climate extreme events, e.g., droughts, floods and heatwaves. Particular research focuses include, but are not limited to, climate change, risk analysis, climate model simulations, food and crop modeling, and land and water resource management.
Students with a quantitative background and an interest in bridging the fields of climate, hydrology, agriculture, and engineering are encouraged to apply. Experience with scientific programming, data analysis and numerical models would be beneficial.

The prospective students will be advised and supported by Dr. Cheng (https://fulbright.uark.edu/departments/geosciences/directory/index/uid/lc032/name/Linyin+Cheng/) at the Department of Geosciences starting Spring or Fall 2020, and get involved in the Environmental Dynamics program to broaden and build interdisciplinary collaboration at the interface listed above.
