The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University at Buffalo -
The State University of New York - invites applications for an associate or
full professor whose research and teaching interests focus on:

*	Urban Planning, such as physical infrastructure planning, urban
design, transport planning, neighborhood planning, general comprehensive
planning, affordable housing, GIS and urban informatics; or
*	Environmental Planning, such as climate change, ecosystem
restoration, land use planning, natural environment systems, sustainable
development, and environmental aspects of central-city revitalization; or
*	Other specialty areas relevant to urban planning education and
research and complementary to our curriculum, our university, and our
environs.

We are seeking applicants who have unique work and life experiences in urban
contexts. Both academics and practitioners are urged to apply, as are
applicants who can span research and teaching interests in urban planning
with affiliated programs in real estate development and architecture, have a
background in professional practice, or have experience in studio or
workshop instruction.

The duties of the selected candidate will involve a combination of teaching
general curriculum as well as specialized courses in all levels of
instruction; research or scholarly productivity, possibly in connection with
one of the six research centers in the school; and service to the
department, school, university, and community. Faculty are also expected to
advise graduate-level students.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers five degree programs:
B. A. in Environmental Design, an accredited Master of Urban Planning,
Master of Science in Real Estate Development, Master of Science in
Architecture (Historic Preservation), Ph.D. in Urban Planning, and two dual
degree programs (with Architecture and Law). The Master of Urban Planning
program offers six specializations: Community Health and Food Systems,
Economic Development Planning, Environmental and Land Use Planning, Historic
Preservation, Neighborhood Planning and Community Development, and Urban
Design and Physical Planning.

The School of Architecture and Planning, with approximately 40 full-time
faculty and 700 students, is home to the Department of Architecture and the
Department of Urban and Regional Planning, both offering accredited graduate
programs. Located on the university's historic South Campus, our 19th
century academic building recently underwent a $30 million renovation.
