TriVector is hiring a contractor to support the Office of Weather and Air Quality within NOAA/OAR in Silver Spring, MD:


An engineer or scientist with experience in meteorological, or related, project management, program management, resource management (budget, personnel), grants management, and knowledge of R2O conventions (Readiness Levels) is required to support the Office of Weather and Air Quality and the overall effort to accelerate research into operations/applications and provide program support for the Hurricane/Disaster-related Supplemental portfolio.

The Engineer/Scientist will provide scientific, technical and programmatic services to the OWAQ Director and work closely with the Hurricane Supplemental lead to effectively develop, plan, implement and track projects, assess and control performance, and manage risk and interdependencies to meet the project goals and objectives throughout program/project life cycles. The Engineer/Scientist will nurture existing communications between operational forecasters and the rest of the weather enterprise, collecting operational needs and assisting in the development of Funding Opportunities to bring solutions from the research community into current and future employed systems.





Qualifications

  *   Minimum of a MA/MS degree in a physical science, engineering, or related field
  *   Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience interacting with government agencies
  *   Minimum of 2 years of technical writing experience
  *   Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  *   Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  *   Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  *   Flexibility and, above all, reliability Experience/skills in setting priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  *   Proficiency with legislative and regulatory research;
  *   Strong written and oral communications skills directed at variety of audiences and for various purposes;
  *   Ability to understand the substance on a variety of legislative policy issues.
