[ES_JOBS_NET] Coastal hydrology postdoctoral research position

The Befus Hydrology Group at the University of Wyoming is seeking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to assist in a collaborative, NOAA-funded study on testing green to grey adaptation strategies for dynamic, coupled marine-groundwater-wetland systems. The postdoctoral scholar will develop and implement numerical modeling analyses primarily for the groundwater and wetland components. The research will contribute to larger project goals by interfacing with collaborator-run models and through brainstorming workshops with local, regional, and national stakeholders.

The appointment will have an initial one-year term with benefits starting as early as November 2020 with the potential for renewal for the extent of the funded activities, totaling three years.

Applicants should submit a current curriculum vitae, cover letter that includes a statement of research interests of up to two pages with how their experience and goals relate to this opportunity, provide a sample of scientific writing (published research article preferred), and provide contact information for three professional references.

Qualifications
A completed PhD degree at time of start with a thesis focus on hydrology, coastal hydrodynamics, groundwater/hydrogeology, quantitative wetland ecology, or a closely related field. The applicant should have moderate to extensive experience with numerical modeling and scientific programming (Python preferred; MATLAB, R, or other language with openness for learning Python at a minimum). Additional preferred applicant qualifications are a strong (or strongly developing) publication record, interests in both fundamental and applied hydrologic research, and excellent communication skills.
