Overview
The Climate Science Program and the Department of Plants, Soils and Climate invites applications for a tenure-track, academic year (9-month) faculty appointment in atmospheric science and meteorology at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will be defined as approximately 65% research, 30% teaching and 5% service. We are searching for an applied scientist who is capable of interfacing between studies of drought prediction and large-scale meteorological phenomena.  A modeling background from the perspective of data assimilation would be an advantage.  Applicants with on-going activities in climate research of the western U.S. are particularly encouraged.  The candidate must have experience in teaching upper division meteorological courses such as dynamic meteorology and synoptic meteorology. The position is co-funded by and will be affiliated with USU’s interdisciplinary Ecology Center and will be affiliated with the Utah Climate Center.  Review of the candidates will begin December 15, 2019.  The estimated start date for this position is August 1, 2020.
