Assistant Professor of Geography

Job Summary
The Atmospheric Science Program within the School of Sciences at the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in Geography beginning August 2020.  This position is contingent upon funding.

Candidates who have expertise in GIS programming (e.g., Python) and spatial analytics, with physical geography research specializations in climatology, meteorology, hydrology, or land-use/land-cover change, are strongly encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate will be expected to balance undergraduate/graduate teaching and research within the multidisciplinary School of Sciences that includes degree programs in atmospheric science, biology, chemistry, and mathematics.

Duties and Responsibilities
*        Teach undergraduate/graduate courses during the fall and spring semester.
*        Advise students and maintain records of student progress.
*        Pursue a program of research and publication.
*        Assist in all areas of program improvement, including participation in curriculum development, evaluation and assessment.
*        Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in geography or a closely related field.  ABD candidates in late stages of dissertation will also be considered.  Qualifications include having:
*        Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
*        Coursework and/or experience in GIS, Python (or similar) programming, spatial analytics, and weather/climate, hydrology, and/or land-use/land-cover change.
*        A research agenda and the ability to provide undergraduate research experience.
*        Experience with relevant scientific computing applications for research and teaching.
*        Ability to develop and teach online and/or blended (hybrid) courses.
*        Effective oral and written communication skills.
