Research Scholar – Atmospheric Science
National Institute of Aerospace (NIA) has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral Research Scholar to support data analysis of aerosol and cloud measurements in the atmosphere. The primary focus of this work is to analyze data from NASA’s satellites and balloon field missions to characterize the optical and physical properties of aerosols and clouds. The overall objective is to better understand how pollution in Asia can affect cloud distributions during the Monsoon. This work supports two separate but related NASA funded awards.
The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative team on site at NASA’s Langley Research Center and will be expected to publish results of the work both thru internal technical publications and in professional conferences and journals.
International travel to India is a requirement of this position.
Requirements:
• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field of atmospheric science.
• Previous experience with field based scientific data gathering.
• Previous experience with NASA satellite data.
