We are seeking a postdoc to join a multidisciplinary research team (atmospheric chemistry, biogeochemistry, applied ecology) investigating chemical and biochemical mechanisms driving the terrestrial-atmospheric exchange of reactive nitrogen. This position interfaces with several research groups collaborating on funded projects studying microbial activity and its relation to nitrogen and carbon cycling in the soil environment.

The postdoc will be based in the Integrated Program in the Environment at Indiana University, and will work primarily in the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Raff. The postdoctoral researcher would work on one of our current projects including laboratory studies of heterogeneous and multiphase chemistry of reactive nitrogen on soil surfaces using cavity enhanced spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, and various surface-sensitive methods for investigating processes occurring in soil and on model boundary-layer surfaces. The successful candidate would also have opportunities to attend conferences, participate in grant and manuscript writing, conduct research at national laboratories, and participate in outreach activities.

Start date is negotiable, but we strongly prefer that the successful candidate start in summer 2019. The appointment is initially for a one-year period, renewable for an additional year based on satisfactory performance.
