Postdoctoral position in regional coupled modeling at Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution

We are seeking a highly motivated organized and independent scientist for a
postdoctoral investigator position at the Physical Oceanography Department
of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The candidate will work under
the supervision of Drs. Hyodae Seo and Carol Anne Clayson on a NOAA-funded
project as a part of the ATOMIC/EUREC4A-OA
(http://eurec4a.eu/index.php?id=5011). The candidate will run
high-resolution regional coupled model (WRF-ROMS) simulations to examine the
coupled boundary layer physics mediated by ocean mesoscale eddies and fronts
in the Northwest Tropical Atlantic and explore how the eddy-mediated air-sea
fluxes relate to ocean boundary layer mixing, low-level clouds, and
large-scale regional climate.

Strong skills in numerical modeling with preferred experience in WRF and/or
ROMS are required. The candidate should also have expertise in the upper
ocean physics (mixing, waves, barrier layer) air-sea flux (turbulence, COARE
bulk flux algorithm) and/or atmospheric boundary layer dynamics in
association with trade wind cumuli.

The appointment will be 24 months. Applicants must submit the application
forms online. The documents should include a cover letter CV and contact
information of 3 references. Applications will be reviewed upon submission.
Interested applicant should contact Dr. Hyodae Seo (hseo at whoi.edu
<mailto:hseo at whoi.edu> ).
