cropping system modeling approaches to explore various topics related to
food security and sustainable agricultural production under climate change,
with a goal to improve managements of agroecosystems at various
scale. Specific responsibilities include: calibrate cropping system model
(e.g. Ecosys) for multi-objective application; developing new modules for
to meet application demands; developing and implementing data assimilation
algorithms to integrate multi-source remote sensing observations into the
crop model; conducting local, regional or global simulations; preparing
project reports and peer-reviewed publications; and communicating research
at professional meetings.

*Qualifications:* Applicants should have a Ph.D. in quantitative
disciplines such as earth and atmospheric science, environmental science,
remote sensing, ecology, math and statistics, or any other closely related
fields. The Applicant is expected to have a wide range of skills related to
earth system and crop modeling: (1) strong programing experience (e.g.,
Python, Fortran, or C++ in the Linux environment) and be familiar with
supercomputing or big data analytical systems; (2) development and testing
of numerical representations of complex processes suitable for site,
regional, and global scale models; (3) application of state-of-the-art
parameter uncertainty and calibration methods; (4) oral communication and
scientific writing.

*Starting Date: *Ideal starting time is Sep 1st, 2019, but can be flexible.
